I have channeled a lot of creativity, patience, and tutorial time into learning how to do my daughters' hair well. They each have different lengths and textures and colors, so it's been fun to adapt one style to fit many hair types. Every morning, the girls know that after going potty and brushing teeth, they'll perch on the bathroom countertop to get their hair brushed and styled. It's not usually fancy but sometimes it is, and I am not anywhere close to a professional, but I really enjoy the process and outcomes. Whatever the style, I have a few go-to hair products I use almost every morning, and I'm here to make your life easier with this list.

Continuous spray water bottle. I typically wet down my girls' hair with water and/or detangler before styling, as it makes it more manageable. But I find the pumps on regular spray bottles and store-bought detangler to be a hassle, especially for long thick hair. Do yourself a favor and dump your detangler into the continuous spray bottle. I'm currently using True Goodness detangler from Meijer, but I also love this brand.

Various sized brushes. I use a small Wet©️ brush for short fine hair and a bigger detangling brush for long, thick curly hair.

Rat tail comb. I use the comb to detangle fine hair, and I use the pick to perfect parts in all hair styles. Fair warning, I've broken a few teeth off the comb while forcing out sticky knots, but there's only so much you can do when a kid drags their hair through toothpaste 😑

These small hair ties. My girls love to choose their colors every day, and we all love that these hair ties are easy and pain-free to remove, especially for styles that use multiple hair ties.

That being said, I also like to have classic no-damage hair ties and small rubber bands on hand, and I often use both. I've tried a few elastics that break during the day or are not stretchy enough or are too brittle, but the ones linked above have proven to be a good combination of stretchy and strong and still not too difficult to remove.

I finish off almost every style with one or two of these bows. I've tried so many, but these are the best. They're affordable, a great size, fun colors, and the alligator clip stays in beautifully. I've recommended them to probably a dozen of my friends, and everybody loves them. I actually bought 2 sets so I can use matching colors for pigtails. Until, of course, they're old enough to pick their own colors and don't want them to match.

I'm also lately into recreating 90's butterfly clip styles, and I like the matte colors and durability of these.
